Framing

I can't exactly remember what my favourite books were as a child, but certainly amongst them are the Chalet School. They must have ranked pretty high because I managed to track down all 62 of them. At one point my mother sent a blank cheque to the publishers saying these are the titles outstanding. I definitely loved them in greater quantity than any other books.

I reread them all in the summer between my first and second year at university - now a depressing seventeen years ago - and haven't seen them since. Pressures on space and new book acquisition meant that they never came to London with me. Finally, after I moved house to accommodate children and threw out some Booker prize winning novels, amongst others, I had them retrieved from the parental loft and brought to me at the end of last year. I will now, slowly, reread them.

I will also blog them. That's what this is for. I'm curious to see how well they've stood up. Obviously, I'm really rereading my childhood, so you'll have to bear with me. I reckon I'll end up around one a month, which means this will keep me going for about five years or untill the youngest child is at school. I'll try to stick to a consistent format, but will probably fail.
